One of the most comprehensive and inclusive landscape exhibitions of recent times. With works by leading Australian artists the exhibition brings into focus our evolving attitudes and perceptions of the national landscape over the past twenty-five years. The exhibition was curated by Melanie Evans and features works by Kath Withers, Gail Manderson, Joycelan Williams, Cheryl Penrith, Melinda Schiller, Georgina O’Neill, Kerrie O’Sullivan, Debbie Wood, Kelly Humphrey, Mark Saddler, David O’Neill, Luke Penrith, Peter Beath, David Collins, Brianah Withers, Lucinda Williams, Lisette Bolton and Amanda Levett.

Giilanggalang is a very personal look into how various local Wiradjuri and Gaamilaroi artists’ express their identities and pass on knowledge through their cultural arts practice.”

The exhibition is supported by the NSW Government through the Aboriginal Regional Arts Fund and is a partnership between Eastern Riverina Arts and Riverina Regional Libraries

Sauntering Emu and Other Stories: Life with the Birds of the Riverina
Museum of the Riverina, Botanic Garden Site

As a young girl, nationally acclaimed local writer Dame Mary Gilmore observed teams of horses and bullocks working to change the Riverina landscape. She likened these teams to the migratory flights of birds – birds the Wiradjuri people knew so well. This exhibition features rare images and objects, a wealth of local bird species, plus a selection of beautiful poems by Dame Mary Gilmore.

HAUNTING & HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW PRESENTATION: WAGGA WAGGA BEACH, CENTRAL WAGGA WAGGA
7:30pm, Tuesday 12th April (Free & Open to Public)

A presentation of new projection works by Vic McEwen (The CAD Factory), George Main (National Museum of Australia), Clytie Smith (University of Sydney) & Barbara Holloway (ANU) & Textile installation of 18 panels running for 100 metres beside the Murrumbidgee at Wagga Beach. Constructed from fabrics from many domestic realms, the work refers to the absent presences and fragile ecologies of this country. Each panel flags the urgent need to recognise the shadows of the past that continue to infect the present that will flow on into the future if left unacknowledged and unaddressed.

Inspired by Country & Western: landscape re-imagined, take a musical journey through all the flavours of the Australian landscape and heritage, with music by Australia’s most renowned composers as well as works specially commissioned for this extraordinary exhibition.
